Indian Government Unveils World’s Cheapest Tablet – Aakash

The world’s cheapest tablet PC Akash is going to be launched in India very shortly. Its cost is expected to be between 35$ and 45$ that may range from Rs.1750 to Rs.2250 in Indian currency. The prototype of the tablet PC Akash was unveiled by the HRD Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal. The project’s main purpose is to bring as many students as possible into the web of computer based knowledge including the students from rural India. The Government of India place an order for 100,000 tablet PCs in the first phase and in the second phase it is going to purchase 900,000 PCs from the manufacturer and developer The Data Wind a London based company.
